Transfer Talk: Arsenal set to sign Manchester City defender this summer?
According to the Daily Star, Arsenal have been monitoring the potential availability of the Manchester City defender, Joleon Lescott, who seems to be disgruntled with life at the Etihad stadium and sees his future elsewhere.
The 30-year-old defender who singed for the Manchester outfit back in 2009, has fallen down the first-team pecking order following the emergence of Matija Nastasic last season.
The arrival of new manager, Manuel Pellegrini’s is supposedly a chance for Lescott to get himself back into the first team, however, the England international has not received any such assurances so far.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking to shore up their defence this summer with the exit of Santos and Djorou and the England international would prove to be an attractive proposition at the quoted price of £5m.
The Lescott camp was quoted saying that: “The situation is simple really. He wants to play and doesn’t want to spend next season sat on the bench. If he isn’t going to play regularly at City, then he can go to another club that will value him more.”
