Transfer Talk: Arsenal set to land French playmaking maestro?
According to reports in the French media, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is looking to tie up a deal for France international Yoann Gourcuff as early ad next week.
With Lyon willing to let go of the talented playmaker, Arsene Wenger is thought to be keen to reignite his interest in the playmaker, who he so desperately wanted 2 years ago. Earlier in 2011, a move to Arsenal went off the rails for Gourcuff due to an injury at the time, as Wenger explained in 2011: ‘I was interested in Yoann Gourcuff because at one time he was available, Unfortunately we were in a hurry. We had to have players performing soon.’
Lyon’s president, Michel Aulus, has recently expressed the club’s desire to let go of Gourcuff following a disappointing campaign for the French outfit. Aulus claimed that Gourcuff has had ‘no real success at Lyon’, and has confirmed that there have been talks regarding his departure.
