Transfer Talk BREAKING: Liverpool complete Mignolet signing

Simon Mignolet has completed his switch to Anfield, becoming the first Belgian to play for Liverpool.

The 24-year-old Belgian goalie underwent a medical today, and is said to have signed a five-year deal with the club. The fee is reported as £9million upfront with a possible £1m in additional performance based clauses. Mignolet has made 90 appearances for the Black Cats and was a key player of their first team. He also made 13 appearances for the Belgian national team.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers was keen to welcome his new goalkeeper signing, who will be the costliest goalkeeper in the club’s history. He said on the club’s official website, “I am delighted that we have been able to sign one of the top goalkeepers in the Barclays Premier League.

“Simon will join a club that will give him an opportunity to demonstrate and improve his huge talent.”
