Transfer Talk LATEST: Arsenal looking at German playmaker?

Arsene Wenger is looking to add quality to his midfield with the signing of Illkay Gundogan.

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger is thought to be tracking the progress of Borussia Dortmund’s talented young playmaker, Ilkay Gundogan. According to reports in Germany, Wenger believes that a bid of £20m should be enough to lure the German midfielder to Emirates this summer.

Gundogan

Dortmund have already lost Mario Gotze along with the Champions league and the Bundesliga title to the Bavarians towards the end of last season.  Wenger is therefore confident that they will be able to convince Gundogan to take up a fresh challenge in the English Premier League.

The presence of German internationals – Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker in the squad will act as a further incentive for the young German midfielder, should he decide to make the move. However, it is believed that Wenger is also considering the £15m rated Lars Bender, should a deal for Gundogan fail to materialise.
